As you know we have had to postpone the 2020 NC/SC pageant again. We are at a decision point and I want to get your input. Below are two scenarios, please let me know which scenario would be most preferable to you and your family. I would encourage you to read the FAQs below before you make your choice.
Scenario #1: I would like for the 2020 NC/SC pageant to be held Greenville, SC over Labor Day weekend.
Princess Events: 8am Sat. Sept. 5 thru 5pm Sun. Sept 6 (an optional early check-in, the crash course and get acquainted party will take place on Fri. Sept. 4)
Jr. Pre-Teen Events: 8am Sat. Sept. 5 thru 7pm Sun. Sept 6 (an optional early check-in, the crash course and get acquainted party will take place on Fri. Sept. 4)
Pre-Teen Events: 8am Sat. Sept. 5 thru 9pm Sun. Sept. 6 (an optional early check-in, the crash course and get acquainted party will take place on Fri. Sept. 4)
Jr. Teen Events: Noon Sat. Sept.5 thru 6:30pm Mon. Sept. 7
Teen Events: Noon Sat. Sept.5 thru 8:30pm Mon. Sept. 7
Scenario #2: My fully paid sponsor fee gets me a “Fast Pass” to 2020 All-American national pageant held in Orlando, FL. in Nov. over Thanksgiving week. All of the money paid to my 2020 state pageant account will be rolled over to my 2020 national pageant account, plus receive an additional $350 credit on my national account. Dates, hotel info and more information about the national pageant can be found at NAMnationals.com. The 2020 NC/SC pageant will be postponed to 2021.
If you chose scenario #2, you will still be able to change your mind later and put your account on hold and roll everything over to the 2021 state pageant.
What if my sponsor fee ($550) isn’t paid in full, can I still get the “Fast Pass” to Nationals 2020? Yes. If we postpone the 2020 NC/SC pageant to next year, you will have 48 hours from the time the postponement is announced to pay the balance of your sponsor fee.
If the 2020 state pageant is held in SC on Labor Day, can I skip the pageant and still get a “Fast-Pass” to the 2020 national pageant? No, if the NC/SC state pageant is held Labor Day weekend in Greenville, you must participate in order order to qualify for the national pageant.
What if I do not like either scenario? If you do not like either scenario, you will have the option in the poll to put your 2020 state account be put on hold and all the fees rolled over to the 2021 state account.
Why is keeping the 2020 state pageant in NC but postponing to later in Sept. or Oct. not an option? Given the uncertainty of the group restrictions in NC, I do not believe we can move forward confidently in NC. Even if NC does move in to phase 3 in mid-Sept., there will still be some kind of limit on mass gatherings. The phase 3 limits still may prevent us from hosting the 2020 state pageant at a later date in NC.
Why did you choose Labor Day for the option to host the 2020 state pageant in SC? In order to have enough time and space to follow both my COVID action-plan and meet the group meeting restrictions in SC, we need to space events out. With school being back in session, and many of you having a longer drive to get to the pageant, Labor Day offered the most options to space the events out and allow for the younger age divisions to have to avoid missing school on Fri. and get done early enough on Mon. night for the older age divisions to get home at a reasonable time for school on Tue. morning.
If I chose Scenario #2 and take the Fast Pass to nationals and later change my mind and do not attend the national pageant this year, can the money I paid on my 2020 state account still be rolled over to the 2021 NC/SC state pageant? Yes, if you do not attend nationals, we will be more than happy to honor those payments on your 2021 state account.
Will I be notified of the 2021 pageant? Yes. In January of 2021 we will mail you a form with the dates and location of the 2021 pageant. If you want to sign up for the 2021 pageant, you will just fill out that form and mail it back to our office. If your mailing address changes between now and then, please contact our office to update your account.
What if I have a schedule conflict for the 2021 pageant? You can roll your credits over to any future year you are age eligible.
Will I have to reapply or go to another open call to participate next year? No, since you were accepted as a state finalist this year, you will automatically be accepted as a state finalist for next year or any future year. You do not have to go an open call information session again.
I have only paid part of my sponsor fee, when will I have to pay the balance to participate next year? When you signup for the 2021 pageant, you will get a new welcome pack with a fresh copy of magazine #1 in the mail. In that pack will be a sheet with your new deadlines. If you have a balance, it will be divided into two equal payments spread out over two months.
What if I am too old for next year’s pageant? We have an older age division called “Miss” that is for ages 19 to 24. You will not lose your payments, they will simply be rolled over to next year and you will age up from Teen to Miss.
If the pageant is postponed to 2021, will I have a chance to be the state queen for my state and age division? Yes, you will have an opportunity to apply to be appointed the state queen through the NAM Appointed Representative Program. This is the procedure used to appoint queens in states that traditionally do not have a NAM state pageant.
When will the 2021 NC/SC be held? I am not 100%, but most likely, it will be held at the end of June 2021 in Charlotte.
